Whenever you turn, your rear differential transfers power between the wheels on the outside of the turn, and the wheels on the inside of the turn.  This allows you to have a smoother turn and take full advantage of your power steering.  Otherwise, you will be steering at a late 19th, early 20th century level of performance. One of the many reasons that there were more men drivers back in those days as opposed to women drivers was not just old fashioned ways of thinking, it was also due to how hard it was to turn the steering wheel.  Men were often the only ones who had the arm strength to make a turn.   A good reason for differential repair Mesa, don’t you think?

How Can I Tell if I Need Differential Repair?

Well,  if you need differential repair, it is often fairly obvious.  For one thing, if your differential is making noise, that means that gears are wearing out.  Also, if you accelerate or decelerate, this can indicate a problem too.  So, keep an ear on your car, as well as an eye.  Leaking differential fluid will be usually at the rear of the vehicle.

So, remember, that power steering is a great invention.  Make sure that you get differential service to keep it that way.
